Design to maximize brake performance while staying with the original equipment-sized rotors and brake pads. The cross drill pattern is then determined. This pattern is critical, for it must correctly sweep the brake pad to increase its initial bite and allow for out-gassing while also cleaning the entire brake pad surface. The sweep will eliminate hot spots and maximize the brake pad friction to the rotor. The added air-surface, created by cross-drilling, will increase the rotors ability to dissipate heat and cool more effectively.
Stillen sport rotors feature a unique radius-chamfer designed to strengthen holes against stress, heat and torque experienced while braking. Rotors be they stock, cross-drilled or slotted can crack under severe heat and stress. The radius-chamfer process we perform on each and everyone of brake disc rotors will minimize such an occurrence. Most Stillen sport brake disc rotors are gold cadmium-plated which helps protect them from the elements while keeping the rotors looking their best. For truck and SUV applications, the finish is the same as your original rotors. For sport rotors to perform at their best, they must be used in conjunction with Stillen Metal-Matrix brake pads (IntakeOne also carrying them, please call for more details.)
